Important Updates for US 85 Travelers Near Highlands Ranch
In partnership with CDOT, Douglas County is making major improvements to US 85 between Highlands Ranch Parkway and C-470. We need your help to ensure the work zone is safe.
Here are the top 5 things you need to know: Slow down in the cone zone. The speed limit has been reduced to 45 mph. The Colorado State Patrol and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are patrolling the area to ensure motorists heed the speed.
No pedestrians allowed in the work zone. With traffic shifts, access changes and heavy machinery in the area, it is not safe to walk through the work zone. If you’re on foot, please use the trail detours posted on our website. Pedestrian crossing is allowed at designated crosswalks only.
Mind closures at the C-470 Trail and High Line Canal Trail and adhere to the detour routes. It is not safe to skirt around the closures. Ultimately, this project will deliver a much safer and easier way to cross US 85 at each trail using an underpass. We appreciate your patience as we work to deliver these improvements.
Drop the distractions and pay attention through the work zone. Expect traffic shifts, narrowed lanes and new curves in the roadway. Business access will change to right-in, right-out only between Highlands Ranch Parkway and C-470.
Let’s all stay safe together during the duration of this project!
